Butterfly Ballerina

Grace went to a trial dance class on Saturday and stole the show!Getting her hair put in a bun

She did surprisingly well. She followed instructions for the most part and it was fun to watch her as she processed what she was being told. It took her a few minutes but she eventually got it. It was funny to see and hear all the other parents focus on Grace. What can we say, when she is around, other kids don't have a chance. Just kidding! (Well, sort of).
Seeing her next to the other 2 year olds was fun, she really is so tiny. Speaking of tiny, her feet are so small they have to special order her ballet shoes and even those will still be a bit too big. Adam and I went back and forth on if we should put her in dance. Since I danced and taught dance, I really could teach her the same stuff but we felt like it is important for her to be around some other kids. I think she will enjoy it and it will be really good for her. Her therapists have also mentioned that they think it will really benefit her. Besides, she LOVES music and has always LOVED to shake her little booty. My favorite part of the day was when she started doing pliƩs...it melted my heart!!!

Another one of my favorite parts? Seeing how supportive Grant was. He was excited to go and watch her. However, he is pretty critical! He kept saying, "Why isn't she doing what she is supposed to?" And when we said, "Didn't Grace do such a great job, Bug?" He said, "Not really!" He did think she looked cute though!
I can't wait to see how she does again next week. And tomorrow, it is Bug's turn. He will start a basketball class. The jury is still out on if he is excited or not. He goes back and forth on an hourly basis. We'll let you know!

Crawling is for the Birds

Grace rarely crawls these days. It is so fun to see her walk everywhere. Here is a video that we took at the beginning of August. Sorry if it's difficult to watch--I was walking backwards while recording. Way to go , Gracie!

Help the Coleman's

Because of our sweet friend, Lucy, we have learned a lot about SMA. We have also been able to follow the blogs of the amazing families that are blessed with little angels just like Lucy. One of them, the Coleman's (see there blog HERE), are expecting their 2nd child. They recently found out she will also be born with SMA. They need some help. Please watch THIS video, if you can make it through without crying, I will be shocked. I know I couldn't. Thanks for your help!

Trip to Utah

We went to Utah at the end of June for a few weeks. We apologize to most everyone for not calling to hang out--Grace had just been released from the hospital a few days before we left. When we were at the airport getting ready to get on the plane, I looked down and it looked like Grace was wearing blue nail polish on her toes and fingers. I quickly looked at the rest of her body and she did not have good coloring. I probably should never have gotten on the plane! Stellar mom, eh? But in my defense, Adam was waiting with us until we got on the plane and he thought she would be fine so it wasn't just my call. When we got to UT, her oxygen needs went way up and we were almost admitted to Primary Children's. Luckily, the doctors considered us a "walking hospital" as they put it. We were able to stay out of the big house but didn't want to take any chances of Gracie catching anything so we steered clear of most people. Even though Grace was tethered to an oxygen tank the entire time, we had a blast! We considered hiding the family in our suitcases but they all insisted they stay because they supposedly have to work and go to school. Who does that? We were able to meet Aunt Erin! She and Uncle Brian are getting married in August and we are super excited for them. She is so sweet! And hello...look how beautiful she is! Gracie loved "Bry Bry" and would stand up for him whenever he asked. She might be a little jealous of Aunt Erin. Grant is having a hard time with the whole marriage thing. He seems to think that when Brian gets married, he won't be an uncle anymore. Silly boy!
We went to the Murray parade for the 4th of July so we could see Uncle Scotty. I think we got enough candy to last a year. Grace was bustin' a move whenever she heard music and kept clapping for everyone.
Grant watched the parade in style!
While daddy was in a meeting, we enjoyed Temple Square.

One day we went to Wheeler Farm--Grant always looks forward to this outing. Yea! A farm!
I am thinking that Grant will grow up to be a farmer.
Grandma and Grant hanging out at the farm
Grant would have taken the pony home if we would have let him. He tells me daily that he wants a horse and a pony. One day buddy, maybe we will be able to make your dream come true.

Hanging out at the zoo. One of Grant's favorite places!
Grace was a good sport at the zoo. She seemed to like the animals and would copy quite a few signs when I told her their names.
Listening to Grant and Grandma play the piano
Look at this concentration
And singing some more...
I found Grace sleeping like this. It cracked me up.
Playing with Uncle Scotty and Bruno. Both kids loved playing with Uncle Pete and Uncle Brian, too!

Does anyone know how to center the header? All this new blog "design" stuff confuses me. :-)

Baby Steps

Gracie is trying really hard to walk! She stands up and takes steps whenever she gets a chance. She is so proud of herself, too! As are we! She also tries to dance while she stands up. It is hilarious! You will see some of her butterfly moves in the video. You even get to hear one of her favorite words, "UP!" Pardon the lack of clothing--sometimes cute clothes are not practical. I know we have been missing in the blog world, so I will try to post more tomorrow. Until then, enjoy!
