DOG, DOG, DOG

Today baby bug and I went to Kohl's to pick up a few things. I swear he has a 50 mile reach. We walked by a bunch of stuffed animal dogs and he reached out of the stroller and snatched one up while yelling, "DOG, DOG, DOG, DOG!!!!" I bent down to talk to him and he had the biggest smile on his face. There were a few older women around us and they were laughing quite a bit. I asked Grant what the dog says and of course he responded, "ooof!" He can't say that without bouncing up and down. That performance got a few more laughs. I tried to put the dog back but that caused bug some distress. I couldn't resist his little face so he got to bring it home with him. He was so excited when I handed it back to him. When we were checking out, the cashier asked him his dog's name. Grant simply responded, "Dog." Seems fitting, don't you think?

Prayer

Lately, Grant has been reminding us when we forget to bless the food. (It's easy to forget when we sit him in his highchair to start feeding him while also getting up and down cooking dinner or lunch and taking care of other things when he eats.) After a few bites he will fold his arms over and over again, until we do the same thing and say the prayer. It is so funny to see! He doesn't really keep his arms folded once we are praying but at least he reminds us. We are trying to be better so that our 10 month old doesn't have to keep us on track.

Memorial Day

We were able to take a nice Sunday drive up to the Golden Gate National Cemetery. It was amazing!

It looked beautiful with all of the flags placed in front of the headstones. It was a solemn, inspiring experience.

Grant enjoyed looking at the flags and wanted to take one home but to his dismay we did not allow it. He also enjoyed smelling some of the flowers.

At the cemetery, a majority of the headstones have a cross on them. There were also some headstones with the Star of David and others with Angel Moroni. It was neat to see that. If you look closely you can see it in this picture.

We hope that as Grant gets older he will understand the importance of those who have lived before us and of those who have risked their lives for our freedom and many others.

It brings so much peace to know that we will be a family forever. Walking through the cemetery amongst all of the headstones truly made us count our blessings and thank Heavenly Father for restoring the gospel in these latter days.

Happy Memorial Day

A boy and his red balloon

On Saturday (May 26th ) we went to the mall. A majority of the children there had red balloons. Grant kept saying, no, yelling, "bahoon, bahoon!" We kept telling him that we would find him one. He would get so excited everytime we passed someone with a "bahoon" and would reach out and try to grab it. We found him a free, red balloon on our way out and he was as high as a kite. He kept laughing and kicking his legs and held on tight. It made it all the way home but popped at 5:43am on Sunday morning. Thank goodness he hasn't noticed!

First Haircut

Grant had his first official haircut today. He wasn't quite sure what to think. He loved the car when he first got in it. He was turning the wheel and saying, "vroom" and then he saw the clippers! It went downhill from there. He tried his hardest to get away and he kept pushing the guy's hands away. It was funny and sad at the same time.
It didn't take long to finish but we're sure it felt like eternity to poor Grant. It's hard to be a baby!
Although it was a bit traumatic Grant left looking as cute as ever. Next time...mommy is going to do the honors because it just isn't worth the money!!! We are totally opening our own business- get a cute car, a tv and some stickers and Cubby Cuts has some competition.

A Bugs Life

We took this picture a few weeks ago. Grant loves to kick back and put his feet up on things. It doesn't matter if he is in the stroller or sitting at the table- you are guaranteed to see his little piggies just chillin'.

Baby bug loves to read the paper with his daddy.
He also loves attention from daddy. Every morning he follows Adam around and if Adam isn't paying attention Grant says, "Hey Da!" or "DAD!!!" Then as soon as Adam looks, Grant gets a big smile and acts so proud of himself.

Now that Grant is mobile and a pro at pulling himself up on things, nothing is safe. Adam often comes home to find the books pulled off the bookshelf and the DVD's and movies scattered on the floor. However, Grant does love to help clean up. When I ask him to put his toys away he will quickly throw them in their bins. They don't stay there long but at least he follows directions momentarily.

I don't know if the jammies are coming out or going back in the drawer!

Green Thumb

Grant loves to be outside. He is such a big helper when I water the flowers. The fun usually ends after he eats a handful of dirt...mmmm!

"Hey mom! Do you think I can get the hose in my mouth?"

I guess if a little dirt won't hurt him- an old hose can't do much damage either.

Isn't he the cutest little gardener you've ever seen?

Stepping Stones

Our little bug took his first steps today! Apparently he will do anything for ice cream...just like his mommy!
